Proposition 10 Funding Proposals for FY 06/07
In 1998, California voters approved a $.50 tax increase on tobacco products through the passage of Proposition 10—the Children and Families First Act. Each County was able to create a local commission and receive revenue from this tax to be used for early childhood development programs for children prenatal through age 5. In 2006, FIRST 5 Santa Clara County adopted five-year strategic plan and considered funding proposals related to the goals in that plan.
